When it comes to fishing tube flies over traditional flies the advantages really stack up.  Tubes offer the angler big flies with short hooks that help reduce the number of hooks that are thrown.  Tube flies also tend to last much longer than traditional flies because once hooked up the body of the fly slides up the leader and out of harms way.  One disadvantage of fishing tube flies is how to store and organize then when fishing.  Some anglers use zip lock bags, some just throw the tubes in a traditional box.  The Irideus Tribute tube fly boxes offer a number of great features that make fishing tubes more convenient and enjoyable.  Here is how the boxes work:


Each box features closed cell foam that has a number of staggered holes.  All you have to do is insert the head of the fly into the hole and the foam holds the fly in place.  The large box will hold up to 44 tube flies.


Irideus offers their tube fly box in two sizes.  The larger box is great for large flies with cone heads and the smaller box works great for pin tubes where the head is either left bare or a small cone is attached. 


The boxes also have slit foam in the center that works great for holding hooks.


Both sizes of the Tribute tube fly box are waterproof and come with an easy to use snap closure. 


In Sum: I really appreciate how well thought out the Tribute tube fly box is.  The layout of the box works great on the water and finding the fly you need is quick and efficient.  I also like how tubes and hooks are separated, which makes for easy selection.  The outer shell is light and durable and I really like how the boxes are waterproof!  I tried  flies tied on Eumer, FITS, Tubelology, protubes, HMH, and a few others and I would say that around 85% fit.  I had trouble with large turbo-style cones fitting due to their broad profile.  If you leave enough of a nub at the front of the cone, then you can use the holes in the smaller box, but the holes in the larger box were just too big to hold plain tubes.  Overall I am very pleased with the Tribute Tube Fly Boxes and fully recommend them!
